'The Jacket Off Your Back' started at the end of November, 2014
Kevin Kelly a native of Ahascragh Co Galway and Sue Purple Kelly who hales from Barford Norwich UK started by collecting a few coats , by Christmas this turned into 1000 and by the following November 1 million items of clothing had been shipped.
The original idea was to cloth the homeless in Ireland only, but the focus turned to the refugee crisis and the poor families in Eastern Europe.
The organiastion works closely with a small town in North Eastern Romania called Stefan Cel Mare.
When the couple first vised there in July 2015 30 Families were identified as living in extreme poverty, that is living on less than €1 per day.
In 2017 the main focus is to work with these families in Romania and make this town a tmplate on how to tackle extreme poverty
In 2017 we will continue to provide homeless chairties around Ireland with quaility clothing shoes and sleeping bags
In 2017 we will continue to work with Human Appeal Ireland in provideing warm clothing for refugees in Syria
